What are the differences among SOC, OWC and COC in sea transportation?

In ocean transportation, we often say ship owner. In addition to ship owner, there is another word: container owner, namely the owner of the container, also known as container owner. There is also a Container Owners Association in the world,
According to different owners, containers are divided into three categories:
  1. SOC box shipper's own container
That is, the shipper owns containers, which can also be called self provided containers, master containers, and self owned containers, abbreviated as SOC. The corresponding is COC box (carrier box).
  2. OWC box OWC: one way container
One time container, one-way container (empty container does not need to be returned), abbreviated as OWC. The consignee takes the goods with the box at the destination port and does not need to return the box after unloading, because the seller has sold the box to the buyer as a part of the price when the buyer and the seller concluded the contract.
  3. Carrier's Own Container
This literally means the container carrier box owned by the carrier, abbreviated as COC. The corresponding is the SOC box (cargo master box).
Domestic shipping agents will briefly introduce the following three differences: SOC is not necessarily one-time, nor is it necessarily one-way, and the self provided box may also be returned to the shipper. The cargo master box is similar to the carrier box, except that the ownership of the box is not the carrier, but the cargo owner. SOC and COC are usually physically identical and share markings, such as CSC nameplates and approved Continuous Inspection Plan (or ACEP) certification.
The only difference between SOC and COC is which party owns it and is responsible for it. Containers owned by the shipper belong to the shipper and are repeatedly used to transport the same products. The container owned by the carrier belongs to the carrier or logistics company and is leased to the consignee without its own container. After delivery, COC will be returned to the carrier and the carrier will lease it to another customer. On the other hand, SOC is returned to the shipper, who needs to store and maintain them independently of the carrier.
